When the application requires a plastic with maximum strength properties, we choose a thermoset. Thermosets remain hard when heated, unlike thermoplastics, which soften when heated. Thermosets are processed differently from thermoplastics.

We offer three types of thermosets:

  1. GRE – Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy
  2. GRVE – Glassfiber Reinforced Vinyl Ester
  3. GRP – Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester

Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE)

Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy (GRE)

GRE piping systems are used for demanding customers in marine & offshore, oil & gas, and the chemical and petrochemical markets. Utilities such as cooling and fire extinguishing systems, which are subject to high reliability and mechanical strength requirements, are often constructed using GRE. The superior mechanical values in the axial and circumferential directions stand out positively compared to other glass fibre reinforced piping systems.

Various joining techniques are available namely adhesive joints, tensile O-ring joints, and laminated joints. GRE complies with the ISO14692 standard, which is considered a general standard by piping engineers working for multinationals in industry, shipping, and offshore.

Appilcations

Appilcations

Both sea and brackish water and mildly corrosive liquids are suitable as media for GRE, with the exception of strong acids and bases. There is very good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons and BTX environments. The most commonly used resins are DER 330 and EPIKOTE 827/828.

GRE piping systems are mainly used for water distribution, both above and below ground: fire-extinguishing water, drinking water, cooling water, utility pipes or, for example, steam condensate.

Glassfiber Reinforced
Vinyl Ester (GRVE)

Glassfiber Reinforced
Vinyl Ester (GRVE)

GRVE piping systems are pipes with a long service life and high chemical resistance, made by combining vinyl ester resin and glass fibre. The pipes are used by end-users in the marine, chemical, and petrochemical markets. Both saltwater systems and corrosive liquids are suitable as media for GRVE, as are most acids and bases. There is limited chemical resistance to hydrocarbons.

The most commonly used vinyl ester resins are DER411, DER470, ATLAC580, ATLAC590, ATLAC3100, and ATLAC E-NOVA 2045.

Various joining techniques are available namely adhesive joints, tensile O-ring joints, and laminated joints.

Applications

Applications

Utility systems such as cooling and fire-extinguishing water with lower requirements.

Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP)

Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP)

GRP piping systems are pipes made by combining polyester resin and glass fibre. These pipes combine the advantages of plastic (such as corrosion resistance and light weight) with the strength of glass fibre, making them resistant to high pressure and mechanical stress.

GRP products are used in various industries. However, the mechanical values in the axial and circumferential directions are significantly lower than GRE and GRVE.
